Klaus Pantel
MD, PhD
Professor and Director, Institute of Tumor Biology
👥Biography 个人简介
Klaus Pantel is the world's foremost expert on circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and their role in metastasis. His pioneering research characterized the biology of CTCs, including their epithelial-mesenchymal transition states, dormancy mechanisms, and capacity to seed distant metastases. He developed methods for isolating and characterizing CTCs and demonstrated their prognostic value across multiple cancer types. His work has advanced understanding of the metastatic process through real-time blood-based sampling and established CTCs as clinically relevant biomarkers.
