Ken Fearon at the University of Edinburgh contributed foundational work on the definition, staging, and management of cancer cachexia. He led the international consensus that established the clinical diagnostic criteria for cancer cachexia and developed the Cancer Cachexia Staging System. His research on anti-inflammatory and anabolic interventions has underpinned clinical trials targeting this debilitating syndrome.
