Kavita Bhatt

Kavita Bhatt has pioneered the use of circulating microRNAs in plasma and serum as cancer biomarkers, demonstrating their stability and reproducibility in blood as prognostic and diagnostic liquid biopsy analytes. Her research characterized tumor-derived miRNA signatures in plasma of patients with lung, breast, colorectal, and pancreatic cancer. She has defined the relationship between exosomal versus protein-bound circulating miRNAs and their differential diagnostic utility. Her large-scale clinical validation studies have established plasma miRNA panels as promising cancer biomarkers progressing toward clinical use.
