Kathleen Schmeler

Kathleen Schmeler is a gynecologic oncologist with dual expertise in cervical adenocarcinoma management and global oncology program development. She has conducted research on the molecular and clinical characteristics of cervical adenocarcinoma, a histologic subtype poorly screened by cytology. She leads international programs to build gynecologic oncology capacity in Latin America and Central America, including training, infrastructure development, and implementation of HPV-based cervical cancer prevention. Her global health work has contributed to reducing disparities in gynecologic cancer outcomes.
