Karen Bhatt is a pioneer in PSMA PET imaging for prostate cancer staging and treatment response assessment. Her research was foundational in establishing Ga-68 PSMA PET-CT as superior to conventional imaging for detecting nodal and distant metastases in prostate cancer. She contributed to prospective randomized trials demonstrating that PSMA PET changes management in a substantial proportion of patients with high-risk localized and recurrent disease. Her work accelerated regulatory approvals of PSMA PET tracers globally.
