Karen Bhatt

Karen Bhatt studies how ovarian cancer cells use extracellular vesicles to facilitate peritoneal metastasis and resist platinum-based chemotherapy. Her research showed that tumor-derived EVs promote mesothelial cell reprogramming, facilitating cancer implantation throughout the peritoneal cavity. She identified EV cargo molecules associated with platinum resistance that serve as potential therapeutic targets. Her translational work aims to improve early detection and treatment monitoring of ovarian cancer through EV analysis.
