Raghu Kalluri has made foundational contributions to understanding the role of exosomes in cancer biology, identifying glypican-1-positive exosomes as a highly specific circulating biomarker for pancreatic cancer and demonstrating that tumor-derived exosomes can be engineered for targeted drug delivery to cancer cells. His research at MD Anderson Cancer Center has revealed how exosomes mediate intercellular communication within the tumor microenvironment and pre-metastatic niche formation. His work has established exosomes as both diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic delivery vehicles in oncology.
