Jun Mao

Jun Mao leads the integrative medicine service at MSKCC and has conducted landmark trials on acupuncture for cancer-related symptoms. His research demonstrated that acupuncture reduces aromatase inhibitor-related joint pain in breast cancer patients and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. He has developed and validated integrative oncology outcome measures and built infrastructure for high-quality integrative medicine research. His work has elevated acupuncture from a fringe therapy to a guideline-recommended intervention in cancer symptom management.
