Jules Dienstag

Jules Dienstag is a leading authority on viral hepatitis and the prevention of hepatocellular carcinoma through viral eradication. His clinical and translational research has advanced understanding of hepatitis C virus-induced liver injury, fibrosis progression, and HCC development. He has contributed to seminal studies establishing that sustained virologic response with HCV direct-acting antivirals substantially reduces HCC incidence in at-risk patients. His work has informed the clinical management of patients with chronic viral hepatitis and the surveillance strategies needed to detect HCC early in patients with cirrhosis despite viral cure.
