Dr. Judith Campisi is a pioneer in cellular senescence research who established the paradoxical roles of senescence in cancer biology: senescence acts as a tumor suppressor mechanism but can also promote cancer through the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). Her discoveries are foundational to understanding how aging promotes cancer and have catalyzed therapeutic approaches targeting senescent cells and SASP-mediated tumor microenvironment remodeling.
