Jose Garcia has been the principal investigator on the ROMANA trials establishing anamorelin (a ghrelin receptor agonist) as an approved treatment for cancer anorexia-cachexia in Japan and Asia. His research has characterized ghrelin receptor signaling as a therapeutic target in cancer cachexia and explored hormonal and endocrine approaches to muscle preservation. He has contributed to developing consensus criteria for cachexia clinical trial endpoints.
