John Lurain at Northwestern has been a leading expert in gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) — rare pregnancy-related tumors including hydatidiform mole, choriocarcinoma, and placental site trophoblastic tumor. His clinical expertise and research on optimal management of these highly chemotherapy-sensitive tumors, which can be cured even with metastatic disease, represents important work in this rare but clinically significant gynecologic malignancy.
