John Bhatt investigates YAP as an oncogenic driver in cancers with Hippo pathway alterations, particularly mesothelioma and NF2-mutant tumors. His research has characterized how YAP amplification and Hippo pathway loss converge to drive oncogenic transcription programs. He has evaluated TEAD inhibitors and other strategies to block oncogenic YAP activity in cancer cells. His translational studies are advancing YAP inhibition into clinical trials for mesothelioma and other Hippo-deficient tumors.
