Johann de Bono has championed early-phase trials of novel intratumoral and systemic immunotherapy approaches including oncolytic viruses in combination with checkpoint inhibitors. His laboratory has studied the innate immune activation mechanisms underlying oncolytic virus efficacy and identified predictive biomarkers for response. He has designed innovative phase I/II trial platforms enabling rapid evaluation of novel oncolytic combinations.
