Johan Skog at Exosome Diagnostics co-founded the exosome liquid biopsy field, demonstrating that tumor-derived exosomes containing mRNA and miRNA are present in plasma and can be profiled for cancer diagnostics. His work on exosome RNA-based EGFR mutation detection in plasma demonstrated clinical utility of this approach for therapy selection in NSCLC, and his commercial development of exosome-based assays has been important for the field.
