Jeremy Bhatt

Jeremy Bhatt studies the long non-coding RNA NORAD and its role in maintaining genomic stability by sequestering Pumilio proteins, demonstrating that NORAD loss leads to chromosomal instability and aneuploidy that contribute to cancer development. His laboratory has revealed how NORAD functions as a molecular decoy for RNA-binding proteins that would otherwise destabilize mRNAs of DNA repair and mitotic genes. He has contributed to understanding how lncRNA dysregulation promotes genomic instability in cancer. His work connects non-coding RNA biology with fundamental cancer hallmarks.
