Jennifer Doudna is a co-inventor of CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2020 alongside Emmanuelle Charpentier. Her laboratory at UC Berkeley pioneered the biochemical characterization of CRISPR-Cas9 and continues to develop next-generation genome editing platforms. Her work has transformative implications for cancer therapy including CAR-T cell engineering and oncogene correction. She founded the Innovative Genomics Institute to accelerate therapeutic applications of genome editing.
