Jeffrey Weitzel

Jeffrey Weitzel at City of Hope has pioneered cancer genetic research in Latin American and Hispanic populations, identifying BRCA1/2 founder mutations prevalent in these communities and demonstrating that hereditary cancer genetic testing is underutilized in diverse populations. His work on cancer genetic disparities and population-level approaches to hereditary cancer identification has contributed to efforts to reduce inequity in access to genetic medicine.
