Jean-Pierre Issa

Jean-Pierre Issa is a pioneering epigeneticist whose work on DNA methylation in cancer has transformed understanding of epigenetic silencing in tumor suppressor gene inactivation. He was among the first to demonstrate that DNMT inhibitors can reverse aberrant DNA methylation and restore gene expression in cancer cells. His clinical research established low-dose hypomethylating agents as effective therapy for myelodysplastic syndrome and AML. He developed the epigenetic aging framework and continues to advance epigenetic therapy combinations.
