Jean Paul Thiery
PhD
Distinguished Professor
👥Biography 个人简介
Jean Paul Thiery established the conceptual framework for epithelial-mesenchymal transition in cancer metastasis, demonstrating that cancer cells co-opt the developmental EMT program to acquire migratory and invasive properties necessary for metastatic dissemination, and that reversal through mesenchymal-epithelial transition enables proliferative colonization at distant sites. His identification of SNAIL, TWIST, and ZEB transcription factors as master regulators of EMT in cancer cells provided molecular targets for anti-metastatic intervention. He drew critical parallels between EMT in embryonic development and cancer invasion. His conceptual and experimental contributions established EMT as a central mechanism in the metastatic cascade.
