David Jaffray developed cone-beam computed tomography for radiation therapy guidance, a transformative technology that enables the image-guided precision required for dose painting and adaptive radiation therapy in clinical practice. His engineering innovations in treatment delivery platforms have made it technically feasible to implement complex heterogeneous dose distributions with the accuracy needed for dose painting. He leads global initiatives to expand access to advanced radiation technology in low- and middle-income countries.
