Isaac Klein has been instrumental in demonstrating that fusion oncoproteins such as EWS-FLI1 in Ewing sarcoma form aberrant transcriptional condensates that drive oncogenic gene expression programs. His work revealed that the low-complexity domains of fusion proteins confer novel phase separation properties that rewire enhancer landscapes. These findings have established condensate disruption as a therapeutic strategy for fusion-driven cancers.
