Andre Ilbawi leads cancer control efforts at the World Health Organization, developing the WHO Essential Diagnostics List for cancer, national cancer control planning guidelines, and global strategies to expand access to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care in low- and middle-income countries. His work at WHO has established the policy frameworks through which countries develop and implement comprehensive cancer control programs, including the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer that aims to achieve at least 60 percent survival for childhood cancers worldwide by 2030. His leadership is shaping the global cancer control policy agenda and mobilizing resources for cancer care in underserved populations.
