Ilaria Bhatt

Ilaria Bhatt is a stromal biology researcher at Karolinska Institutet whose single-cell RNA sequencing studies have defined the diversity of cancer-associated fibroblast subtypes across different tumor types. Her research identified functionally distinct CAF populations including myofibroblastic and inflammatory subtypes with opposing roles in tumor immunity. She has developed computational frameworks to classify CAF populations across breast, lung, and colorectal cancers. Her work has provided a molecular taxonomy for CAFs that guides targeted stromal intervention strategies.
