Patrick Hwu

Patrick Hwu has been a pioneer in tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte therapy and gene-modified T cell approaches that have informed the development of adoptive cell therapies now being adapted for pediatric cancers. His foundational work on overcoming immune resistance mechanisms has provided critical insights applicable to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments characteristic of pediatric solid tumors. He leads institutional efforts to translate adult immunotherapy advances into pediatric-appropriate protocols.
