Kent Hunter
PhD
Senior Investigator, Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics
👥Biography 个人简介
Kent Hunter has pioneered the study of germline genetic variation that controls metastatic efficiency and dormancy duration, identifying host genetic modifiers such as SIPA1 that determine whether disseminated tumor cells rapidly proliferate or remain dormant at metastatic sites. His research at the National Cancer Institute has revealed that metastatic behavior is controlled not only by tumor-intrinsic mutations but also by inherited genetic variation in the host microenvironment. His work explains the clinical observation that patients with similar primary tumors can have vastly different metastatic outcomes and dormancy periods.
