Steve Horvath developed the original pan-tissue epigenetic clock based on 353 CpG sites, which has become the gold standard for measuring biological age and its association with cancer risk. His subsequent development of GrimAge and skin-and-blood clocks has enabled precise quantification of aging acceleration in cancer patients and survivors. His work has established that epigenetic age acceleration predicts cancer incidence and mortality independent of chronological age.
