Hisao Asamura

Hisao Asamura is a preeminent Japanese thoracic surgeon who has made major contributions to thymic tumor staging and classification through leadership of ITMIG and the development of the Masaoka-Koga staging system used globally. He led the development of the ITMIG consensus staging guidelines for thymic tumors incorporated into the AJCC/UICC TNM classification. His work integrates large-scale multicenter registry data to define evidence-based standards for thymic tumor management.
