Hashem El-Serag

Hashem El-Serag at Baylor has made major contributions to HCC epidemiology and surveillance, including characterizing the rising incidence of HCC associated with NASH/NAFLD in the United States, establishing evidence-based HCC surveillance protocols using liver ultrasound plus AFP in cirrhotic patients, and advocating for expanded HCC surveillance in at-risk populations. His work has shaped population-level approaches to HCC prevention and early detection.
