Harlan Robins developed immunosequencing technology (ImmunoSEQ) to profile T-cell receptor repertoires and has applied this to characterize MCPyV antigen-specific T-cell responses in Merkel cell carcinoma patients. His work has shown that MCC patients with higher TCR clonality and MCPyV-specific T-cell infiltration have improved outcomes on checkpoint inhibitor therapy, providing a mechanistic basis for the strong immunotherapy responses in MCPyV-positive MCC. His TCR analysis platforms have been broadly adopted in immunotherapy biomarker research.
