Harald Paganetti

Harald Paganetti is a leading authority on proton therapy physics and radiobiology. His research on the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of protons challenged the longstanding assumption of uniform RBE=1.1 and demonstrated that proton RBE varies clinically-significantly along the beam track. He developed Monte Carlo simulation frameworks widely used in proton therapy research and clinical planning. His radiobiological studies have implications for treatment planning accuracy, normal tissue protection, and the design of future clinical trials in proton therapy.
