Seunggu Han has investigated mechanisms of TTFields-induced immunogenic cell death, demonstrating that alternating electric fields trigger calreticulin exposure, HMGB1 release, and ATP secretion from dying tumor cells, activating dendritic cell maturation and anti-tumor T cell responses. His clinical observations showed that TTFields-treated glioblastoma patients exhibit increased tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and enhanced PD-L1 expression, providing rationale for TTFields-immunotherapy combinations. He leads trials combining TTFields with anti-PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors in recurrent glioblastoma.
