Guergana Savova developed cTAKES (clinical Text Analysis and Knowledge Extraction System) — one of the most widely used open-source clinical NLP tools, used extensively for extracting cancer diagnoses, medications, and clinical findings from unstructured oncology notes. Her work on cancer phenotyping from EHR notes has enabled large-scale retrospective cancer research from existing clinical data.
