Roger Gomis

Roger Gomis has made important contributions to understanding how breast cancer cells enter and exit dormancy in bone metastatic niches, identifying the MSK1 kinase and CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling axis as critical regulators of the dormancy-reactivation decision. His laboratory at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine Barcelona has defined microenvironmental barriers to metastatic colonization that enforce dormancy and identified the signals that enable cancer cells to overcome these barriers. His research provides mechanistic insight into the biology of late bone metastasis relapse in breast cancer patients.
