Gilbert Fletcher

Gilbert Fletcher built MD Anderson's radiation oncology program into one of the world's foremost institutions. He pioneered the use of high-energy megavoltage radiation and brachytherapy for cervical cancer, and the Fletcher-Suit applicator he co-designed remains in clinical use today. His systematic fractionation studies established clinical radiobiological principles that continue to guide dose prescription in head and neck and gynecologic cancers.
