Gad Getz has developed the foundational computational infrastructure for cancer genome analysis, creating widely used tools including MuTect for somatic mutation calling and GISTIC for copy number analysis that have been applied to tens of thousands of tumor genomes across TCGA, ICGC, and other major cancer genomics projects. His group at the Broad Institute has established the standard computational pipelines used by the cancer genomics community for variant calling, mutational significance analysis, and driver gene identification. His work has enabled the systematic discovery of cancer driver genes and mutational processes that define the molecular taxonomy of cancer.
