George Canellos is a landmark figure in lymphoma oncology who established curative combination chemotherapy regimens for Hodgkin lymphoma, transforming it from a fatal disease to a curable one. He helped demonstrate the superiority of ABVD over MOPP for Hodgkin lymphoma, reducing long-term toxicity while maintaining high cure rates.
