George Bhatt

George Bhatt investigates disulfiram, an anti-alcoholism drug, as a cancer therapeutic through copper-mediated proteasome and ALDH inhibition. His research has characterized how disulfiram forms copper-disulfiram complexes that are selectively toxic to cancer cells with elevated copper uptake. He has conducted clinical studies of disulfiram repurposing in glioblastoma and other cancers and investigates how to optimize copper supplementation to enhance anti-cancer potency. His preclinical and clinical work contributes to the evidence base for disulfiram as a repurposed anti-cancer agent.
