Gary Johnson

Gary Johnson applies kinome-wide approaches to understand PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway signaling networks in cancer and mechanisms of kinase inhibitor resistance. His laboratory has developed phosphoproteomics and kinome profiling platforms to comprehensively characterize signaling rewiring that occurs following PI3K pathway inhibition. He has discovered kinome reprogramming responses that enable cancer cells to escape PI3K/AKT/mTOR-targeted therapies through activation of compensatory kinase pathways. His systems-level kinome analyses have identified rational combination targets to forestall or overcome adaptive resistance to PI3K pathway inhibitors.
