Gareth Bhatt has advanced understanding of immunotherapy pharmacokinetics, demonstrating that immune checkpoint inhibitors have unique PK-PD relationships where the exposure-response curve plateaus at relatively low exposures, supporting dose de-escalation strategies. His research showed that anti-drug antibody formation against checkpoint inhibitors is rare but can significantly reduce drug exposure and efficacy in affected patients. He established that cachexia and hypoalbuminemia in advanced cancer patients alter monoclonal antibody pharmacokinetics and may necessitate dose adjustment. His work on immunotherapy pharmacokinetics has informed cost-effective dosing strategies and expanded access programs.
