Guangping Gao co-discovered many of the AAV serotypes now used in gene therapy and directs the Horae Gene Therapy Center at UMass Chan. His work has enabled approved gene therapies including AAV9 for spinal muscular atrophy. He is a leading figure in translational AAV research.
