Gang Zheng invented porphysome nanotechnology, self-assembled nanostructures from porphyrin-lipid building blocks that function simultaneously as photothermal, photodynamic, and photoacoustic agents. His work has translated these multifunctional porphyrin nanoparticles toward cancer photoimmunotherapy, enabling spatially targeted tumor ablation combined with immune stimulation. He has led clinical translation efforts for photoimmunotherapy nanoparticles.
