Gad Getz has developed the most widely used computational tools for cancer genome analysis, including MutSig for identifying significantly mutated genes and ABSOLUTE for inferring tumor purity and ploidy from sequencing data. His algorithms have been central to TCGA and ICGC cancer genome projects, enabling the identification of hundreds of cancer driver genes across all tumor types. He established computational frameworks for distinguishing driver from passenger mutations in cancer genomes. His tools and methods form the analytical backbone of clinical cancer genomics programs worldwide.
