Thomas Fuchs developed the Virchow foundation model, one of the largest vision transformers trained on pathology data encompassing millions of slides across cancer types. His work at Paige AI achieved the first FDA-cleared AI system for cancer diagnosis in pathology. He has established frameworks for deploying foundation model-based pathology AI in clinical practice at scale.
