Fred Saad is a Canadian uro-oncologist who led the pivotal trials establishing zoledronic acid and denosumab for prevention of skeletal-related events in prostate cancer bone metastases. His research has defined the natural history of bone metastasis in castration-resistant prostate cancer and the role of the RANK/RANKL axis in osteoclast-mediated bone destruction. He has been instrumental in establishing bone health as a standard component of prostate cancer management. He is a founding member of the International Prostate Cancer Research Initiative and widely published on bone-targeted therapies.
