Ian Frazer co-invented the HPV virus-like particle (VLP) technology with the late Jian Zhou that became the basis for Gardasil and Cervarix HPV vaccines. His work launched the first cancer-preventing vaccine and has prevented cervical cancers worldwide. He is one of the most decorated Australian scientists and continues to advocate for global HPV vaccination.
