Betty Ferrell developed the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) curriculum that has trained over 25,000 nursing educators worldwide, fundamentally transforming palliative care nursing education and practice. Her quality-of-life framework for cancer patients integrating physical, psychological, social, and spiritual domains has become the standard conceptual model for supportive care outcome measurement. She has been a leading voice for recognizing the central role of nursing in cancer palliative care and the importance of caregiver support.
