Fernando Bhatt

Fernando Bhatt specializes in medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) biology and targeted therapy with RET inhibitors. His clinical research has characterized inherited MTC in the context of MEN2 syndrome with germline RET mutations and sporadic MTC with somatic RET mutations. He has contributed to clinical trials evaluating vandetanib, cabozantinib, selpercatinib, and pralsetinib in RET-mutated MTC and characterized the activity spectrum and toxicity profiles of these agents. His work on genotype-phenotype correlations in RET-mutated MTC informs risk-adapted surgical management timing and targeted therapy selection for MTC patients.
