Fatima Cardoso

Fatima Cardoso is a world authority on advanced breast cancer and has led pivotal work on male breast cancer, a rare and underrepresented disease that disproportionately presents at advanced stage. She co-chaired the first international consensus conference on male breast cancer and led the MBC consortium developing the first dedicated clinical guidelines. Her research has highlighted differences in molecular characteristics between male and female breast cancer, particularly the higher frequency of BRCA2 mutations and luminal subtypes in male patients.
