Jean-Pierre Farmer has pioneered the application of photodynamic therapy and fluorescence-guided surgery for pediatric brain tumors, using 5-aminolevulinic acid to enhance tumor visualization and enable PDT of residual disease during neurosurgical resection. His clinical experience with PDT in pediatric CNS tumors has demonstrated improved local control rates with acceptable safety profiles in this vulnerable patient population. He integrates phototherapy into multimodal treatment strategies for difficult-to-resect brain tumors.
